We are looking for a motivated and passionate finance professional to join our UK team and help drive the growth of our brands across the UK & Ireland.

The Position as Accounts Assistant

Joining our small but rapidly growing UK&I team based in London, you will play a key role in day-to-day operations, directly contributing to our continued growth journey. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad experience across accounting, including accounts payable, credit control, cash management, tax, and management accounts.

This role offers a solid foundation in core day-to-day finance activities with regular tasks and deadlines, however it will also involve ad hoc projects and adapting to changing processes within the business, and so will be suited to someone who is flexible and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges.

As our new Accounts Assistant, you will:

Accounts Payable:

• Process purchase invoices

• Review and collate expense reports month and preparing journals
• Take responsibility for coordinating and answering supplier queries and assisting the wider business with invoice queries

Accounts Receivable / Credit Control:

• Review overdue customer ledgers and communicate with customers to collect payment
• Take responsibility for credit control and escalating collection problems promptly
• Coordinate and answer customer queries

Banking / Cash Management:

• Prepare supplier payment journals and send remittances to suppliers
• Reconcile bank accounts and record bank transactions in the accounting system

Management Accounts:

• Prepare and post journals in accounting system relating to prepayment/accruals of operating expenses
• Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations and commentary for group reporting

Tax:

• Assist with preparation of various tax submissions, including plastic packaging tax and VAT

Who are You

You are an aspiring finance professional. Previous accounting experience would be advantageous, but not a requirement, as all required support and training will be provided, with financial support also offered for qualifications undertaken. The key traits that we are looking for are strong communication skills, self-motivated and a willingness to get involved.

Essential Skills to Succeed:

• Accounting knowledge: Numeracy is essential, whilst familiarity with accounting concepts is beneficial, but not required
• Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build good relationships
• Proactive attitude: A “can do” mindset and willingness to learn and take on responsibility
• Flexibility: Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Multitasking: Skilled at managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines efficiently
• Organisational skills: Organised and methodical thinker with a keen eye for detail
• Technical skills: Proficiency in Excel is desired, with further training provided as needed
